Valerie E. Prescott, Esq. |
Valerie was born and went to school in Southern California. She did her undergraduate work at UCLA and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. After much deliberation regarding whether to pursue a career in medicine or a career in law, Valerie decided to give law school a try. She enrolled at Western State University and worked in her mother's law firm while attending school. After graduation and passing the California State Bar Exam, Valerie joined her mother's practice in 1994. Tonya proudly changed the firm name to Prescott & Prescott to mark the addition to the firm. In 1998, Valerie became a Certified Family Law Specialist certified by the California State Board of Legal Specialization.
Valerie volunteers time to the Domestic Violence Program sponsored by the Orange County Superior Court where she gives free one-to-one legal advice to victims of domestic violence so that the victims can obtain emergency restraining orders against the perpetrators of violence.
Valerie is a motivated, detail oriented person whose presence alone seems to motivate others. Valerie gives 110% to everything she does. She does nothing halfway. To Valerie, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well. This is evident in Valerie's devotion to keeping physically fit, the time she devotes to her cases and to her home and family.
On a more personal note, Valerie and her husband enjoy running with Tonya and her husband. The foursome often spend weekends together when one or all of them run a marathon (26.2 miles), ultra-marathon (50 miles) or a 100 mile endurance run. In 1992, Valerie and Tonya became the first Mother and Daughter team to finish a 100 mile race together, having run the "Arkansas Traveler 100." Valerie also enjoys snow skiing, golfing, playing tennis and especially enjoys spending time with her sons, Jordan who was born in October, 1998 and Lucas who was born in May, 2000.
Tonya and Valerie support each other in every aspect of their lives and rely on each other's advice on everything from dressing for an important function to how to handle a difficult or interesting new aspect of a case.
Even though she is allergic to cats, Valerie is also "mommy" to two cats, Kahlua (a Burmese) and Minks (a Tonkinese). Valerie loves her kitties and looks forward to unwinding with them after a long day at the office. Jordan and Lucas look forward to helping mommy "unwind" too!!
