Valerie E. Prescott, Esq. |
|
Valerie was born and went to school in Southern California. She did her
undergraduate work at UCLA and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science
in Kinesiology. After much deliberation regarding whether to pursue a career
in medicine or law, Valerie decided to give law school a try. She enrolled
at Western State University and worked in her mother's law firm while
attending school. After graduation and passing the California State Bar
Exam, Valerie joined her mother's practice in 1994. Her mother proudly
changed the firm name to Prescott & Prescott.
Valerie volunteers time to the Domestic Violence Program sponsored by the
Orange County Superior Court where she gives free one-to-one legal advice to
victims of domestic violence so that they can obtain emergency restraining
orders against perpetrators of violence. In addition, Valerie volunteers her
time to the Volunteers in Parole Program. This program pairs up parolee's
with a professional in the hopes that such a relationship will motivate the
parolee to better their life. Valerie is a motivated, detail oriented person whose presence alone seems to motivate others. Valerie gives 110% to everything she does. She does nothing halfway. To Valerie, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well. This is evident in Valerie's devotion to keeping physically fit and in the time she devotes to her cases. On a more personal note, Valerie and her fiancé both enjoy running with Tonya and her husband. The foursome often spend weekends together when one or all of them run a marathon (26.2 miles), ultra-marathon (50 miles) or a 100 mile endurance run. In 1992, Valerie and Tonya became the first Mother and Daughter team to finish a 100 mile race together, having run the "Arkansas Traveler 100." Valerie also enjoys snow skiing, golfing and playing tennis. Tonya and Valerie support each other in every aspect of their lives and rely on each other's advice on everything from dressing for an important function to how to handle a difficult or interesting new aspect of a trial. Even though she is allergic to cats, Valerie is "mom" to two Tonkinese cats, Max and Minks (pictured above right). Valerie loves her kitties and looks forward to unwinding with them after a hard day at the office. |
