In 1988, Michelle began working as a secretary for Tonya Prescott who was, at that time, a sole practitioner. When Michelle began working for Tonya, she had no previous legal experience and only receptionist level secretarial experience. Michelle and Tonya worked closely together and Michelle was able to learn how to run a law office..... literally. Michelle is a great source of information in our office and has knowledge of most commonly used code sections and calendaring information.
Over the years, Michelle has taken paralegal courses at Rancho Santiago Community College. She now acts as the office manager/paralegal. Quite often, Michelle knows more about what's transpiring in the office than the attorneys do!
On a more personal note, Michelle was born on New Years Day and was the second baby born in Fullerton, California in 1967. She is married and has three children: Joey, Monique and Meaghan. We were all surprised to learn that Michelle was having twins during the fourth month of her pregnancy with Monique and Meaghan. The most recent addition to Michelle's family is a big.... very big.... Yellow Labrador Retriever named Taco.
Michelle is very family oriented and involved with her children. In addition to her "more than full time" employment here at Prescott & Prescott, she takes on soccer, baseball, softball, gymnastics, ice skating lessons, band lessons and church on Sunday. Somewhere in there, she manages to go to the grocery store and the dry cleaners, but we're not sure when! Often times, Michelle and her husband, Jose, have to juggle one or more activity per night. When possible, Michelle and her family like to catch an Angels game at the stadium and every now and again a live concert. Michelle's into country music and classic rock and her husband is into traditional Latin music and Latin rock. Life for the Cortes family is truly an adventure!
